Summer catch up with Tom Buffery!!

As we are already six months into the year, we thought some team member catch ups were due.
Today’s summer catch up is with Tom Buffery, For those of you who don’t already know him, Tom is a senior recruiter here at Talk Recruitment Ltd.
1. Firstly, how are you?
Good, thanks, very busy and feeling very optimistic about the rest of this year. Quite a stark contrast compared to last year.
2. How have you found the last 6 months at work?
Since coming back after the Christmas holidays I have been flat out busy, vacancies have been coming in thick and fast, I would say not only are we back to pre-pandemic workloads if anything probably even busier, since the start of the year it has seemed to be getting busier month on month.
3. What challenges are you facing at present?
It was pleasantly surprising to see how quickly things changed from their being an abundance of candidates / job seekers to a shortage. There is certainly a shortage of candidates for jobs now and I think one of the biggest challenges we face at present is explaining this to clients / employers and managing expectations.
4. What have you most enjoyed doing as restrictions have slowly lifted ?
Definitely being able to eat out for dinner, I’m not a good cook so it’s a nice treat, plus no washing up! Yay!
5. What are you looking forward to in the next few months now that many restrictions have eased and hopefully will continue to do so?
I’m looking forward in the future to meet candidates and employers in person again. As well as returning to our office in Coleshill, West Midlands.
Outside of work I’m pretty excited about the Euro’s football tournament, feels like the start of return to normality and something fun to focus my attention on over the summer, hopefully the nice weather will continue also!
