A character artists job within the gaming industry is to create memorable characters and creatures that fit well into the dynamics of the game, this includes creating everything from the characters features right down to the clothing and outfits worn by the characters.
What are the responsibilities of a character artist?
- Create 3D characters using sculpting and modelling techniques that work well within the game style and dynamics.
- Create additional character features such as hair styles, outfit choices and accessories
- Texture the characters
- Manage time and work efficiently to meet deadlines
- Work well with the rest of the art and animation team
- Think creatively and research new ideas to keep up to scratch with industry changes
